From The President

DR. SAVITA MALHOTRA

President
Indian Psychiatric Society

Dear Colleagues, friends and mental health advocates,
Greetings from the President’s desk!
I have immense pleasure in announcing the 77th annual conference of the Indian Psychiatry Society (ANCIPS) being held in Delhi on Jan 28-31st, 2026. This is the most prestigious national event and a largest congregation of psychiatrists from India and abroad who meet annually to share their thoughts, work, research and innovations, for mutual exchange and learning. This is also an opportunity to build professional and social networks, academic collaborations, brain storming and exploring new vistas for research and patient care.

This year's theme, "Unshackling Psychiatry for Society's Mental Health", is both critical and provocative. The discipline of psychiatry and its clinical practice is shackled under centuries old historical traditions and mindset, and needs to be unshackled by embracing the 21st century science, that has brought psychiatry much closer to physical medicine. Mental health care systems, laws, and public image of psychiatry must change in favor of it being a core medical discipline, that will remove stigma, increase acceptability and access to treatment. I am sure there will be high quality discussions, debates and guidance through a rigorously planned and curated scientific program on various topics and themes related to psychiatry and its specialties.

The venue of the conference will be 'YASHOBHOOMI', India International Convention & Expo Center (IICC), Dwarka, Delhi. This is one of the most prestigious convention facility in the national capital with the world class convention facilities, and will surely provide an exquisite conference experience to participants and delegates. Moreover, Delhi provides a lot more than just the conference event in terms of history and culture, sight-seeing and shopping, food and entertainment, diversity and unity of India

The organizing team led by Dr Nimesh Desai along with Dr Deepak Raheja, Dr J M Wadhawan and Dr Pankaj Kumar are working very hard to plan and put together all the arrangements for your comfort and convenience. We are sure that this will be one of the memorable conferences.

On behalf of the executive council of the IPS and my own behalf as President of IPS, I am delighted and honored to invite you all to this great event making the conference a great success, and making the IPS strong and proud.
We look forward to welcome you and see you at the ANCIPS in Jan 2026 in Delhi.

With best wishes and warm regards,

DR. SAVITA MALHOTRA

Dear Colleagues, friends and mental health advocates,

There’s something truly magical about ANCIPS. It’s not just a conference—it’s a celebration of minds and hearts coming together with a shared purpose: to transform the way we see, speak about, and serve mental health.

As ANCIPS 2026 comes to life in the historic and ever-evolving city of Delhi, I find myself filled with hope, pride, and a deep sense of connection to our larger mission. In these times of rapid change and awakening, we are reminded that true progress in mental health care comes not just from clinical expertise, but from empathy, courage, and imagination. As Audre Lorde so powerfully said, “The master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house.” To break old patterns, we must create new ones—with openness, with compassion, and with a willingness to listen to voices that have long gone unheard.

This year’s venue—Yashobhoomi, IICC Dwarka—with its grand architecture and cutting-edge facilities, oers the perfect setting for meaningful conversations and transformative ideas. But beyond the walls and auditoriums, it is our spirit of togetherness that will make ANCIPS 2026 truly unforgettable.

To the incredible organizing team — Dr. Nimesh Desai, Dr. Deepak Raheja, Dr. J. M. Wadhawan, and Dr. Pankaj Kumar — your vision, dedication, and warmth are already shaping this event into something extraordinary.

Let us gather not just to learn, but to connect. Not just to speak, but to listen. And not just to reflect, but to reimagine the future of mental health in India.

With warmth and solidarity

DR. AMRIT PATTAJOSHI

From Organising Committee

Dear Friends & Colleagues in Psychiatry and Mental Health,

It is our distinct privilege and honour to extend a very warm invitation to everyone interested in the professional fields of Psychiatry and Mental Health, to the 77th Annual National Conference of the Indian Psychiatric Society(IPS) in 2026 at Delhi, referred to as, ANCIPS 2026 Delhi. We extend this invitation on behalf of the Organizing Committee( Reception Committee) for this much anticipated event, also on behalf of the partner organization the Delhi Psychiatric Society(DPS). The Organizing Committee, and the DPS are supported in this endeavour by the Indian Psychiatric Society-North Zone. Due gratitude is sincerely expressed to the Indian Psychiatric Society(IPS), for accepting our invitation to hold this annual mega gathering at Delhi.

The occurrence of this annual scientific meeting of IPS at Delhi seems to have a regular cycle, the previous occasions having been in 1978, 1992 & 2011; and now. Delhi has not only been the national capital in political and administrative context for more than a Century now, but has also emerged as one of the most vibrant convention destination in the past few decades. In addition to elaborate infrastructure, it also provides rich heritage for those interested, as well as opportunity for active academic discourse, across disciplines. The long term history of this city, now a burgeoning megapolis, claims to have been rebuilt after being destroyed, at least seven times. In post Independence India, Delhi has played a key role in almost all facets of Society, including Health and human services. The history of Psychiatry as a scientific discipline and humanitarian service for one of the most marginalized populations, is multifarious and accelerating at a pace that would have seemed unlikely a few decades ago.

The growth and development of Psychiatry and mental health services across dierent sectors in Delhi has often synchronized with the trends in the country, often leading from the front. The Organizing Committee for ANCIPS 2026 Delhi is reflective of this intersectionality and the collective eort of the Team Delhi Psychiatry is to provide to the Delegates a rich tapestry of academic and scientific opportunities, along with a broad range of social and cultural experiences for the delegates and their families. The Organizing Committee is determined to make this event a memorable professional convention as well as an unforgettable get together. A sincere plea from all of us here at Delhi, and indeed the National Capital Region( NCR), is to reciprocate the same fervent desire, and spread a good word across the country and across the Globe for Psychiatrists, other mental health professionals as well as mental health advocates and activists to join and add to the professional and social depth & breadth.

Each one of us in the Organizing Committee, is eager to assist and facilitate everyone who is desirous of being here from 28th to 31st January, 2026 for ANCIPS 2026. Feel free to reach out to anyone of us in this regard, and all of us are looking forward to welcoming you here for a life time experience, thus contributing to larger goal of better mental health of human Society.

Eagarly waiting to see you soon.
